Eight. Needs
So please, love me do.
Whoa, love me do.
The Beatles, 1962 (our needs are timeless)
We’ve already talked about how we have huge needs and selfishly try to get them met in relationships, which usually ends up killing the relationship. But in saying that, I want to stress that those needs aren’t wrong; it’s how we meet them that messes things up. We need love, provision, value, and a sense of destiny. That’s all good. But if we look to another person to fulfill those needs, we’ll suck them dry or end up pushing them away. No one person can be all these things to you. In fact, the only way to have these needs met is to give the very thing you want to those you choose to love.
